Shillong: The CSWO has opposed the decision of the State Government to invite Sony Entertainment Television (SET) to the function to felicitate Indian Idol 3 finalist Amit Paul at Shillong.

"The public in general are shocked at the decision," the CSWO said in a statement issued here on Friday.

"We welcome Amit home, but definitely not Sony. If the Government wants a good sound system, it is readily available in Shillong," CSWO said.

According to CSWO, the people of Meghalaya, from every nook and corner, worked day and night to make Amit the winner and for them, he is the winner.

The CSWO alleged that instead of acting against Sony the Government is joining hands with the TV channel and inviting them to Meghalaya.

"We categorically state that Sony Entertainment TV is not welcome to our State unless they come out with the truth behind the Indian Idol 3 results. We will fight for our rights since the public in general is not satisfied with the verdict. We wish Amit all success in life but the fight is for our rights as consumers," the CSWO added.

The CSWO also informed the public that there will be a telecast of the Indian Idol 3 final at 2.30 pm on Saturday so that those who missed the "trick" will be able to view it again and see for themselves how Sony Entertainment duped the people of Meghalaya.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Amit's Fan Club at LDB Building here felt that the programmes to be held at Nongpoh, Shillong and Jowai should be organised by the Government, the family members and Amit's Fan Club.

They pointed out that during Amit's visit to the city on September 3 even his family members were denied to be alongside with him.

"We feel that those people who organised the show the last time should not be given the task to organise the programme again," the club said.

"Amit made Meghalaya proud. He should be given a rousing welcome as a hero where the public can see him," it said, adding that it is expected that all the people of Meghalaya will get a chance of seeing him this time.
